Oschadbank Has Once Again Supported Okhmatdyt Patients Heading to Sweden for Rehabilitation

Oschad News

Oschadbank has provided assistance to 14 Okhmatdyt patients – Ukrainian children aged 12 to 18 who suffered mine and explosive injuries as a result of russian aggression and are heading to Sweden for rehabilitation.

The children come from various regions of Ukraine: Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Shostka, and Kyiv. They will undergo rehabilitation at Karolinska University Hospital (Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset), one of Europe’s largest university hospitals and Sweden’s leading medical center. A sightseeing and excursion program has also been arranged for the children. They are expected to have the opportunity to meet Her Majesty the Queen of Sweden and visit Stockholm’s museums, the zoo, and the oceanarium.

Throughout the two-week trip, the group will be accompanied by an Okhmatdyt rehabilitation specialist.

For the second year in a row, we are supporting this initiative so that the children have the opportunity to undergo rehabilitation, take their minds off their struggles, and experience new positive emotions. And that is what matters most to us. We want them to know that they are cared for, that they are not alone. Despite everything, these children still have hope for the future. And that is what’s most important. Each of them is like a small symbol of our collective resilience. For us at Oschadbank, it’s not just about supporting these children - it’s about teaming up to build a country where everyone feels safe and free from any barriers,” said Roza Tapanova, Oschadbank’s Supervisory Board member.

Oschadbank continues to support Ukrainians affected by the war. Its "My Barrier-Free" program is not merely a standalone project but a strategic vision for the bank. For over 12 years, we have been working to eliminate barriers in physical spaces, financial services, and communications and to build a barrier-free society; likewise, we cannot stand idly by when it comes to children affected by the war. This is a systemic effort, and that is precisely how it must remain,” said Anton Tiutiun, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.

Despite the hardships they have endured, the children heading to rehabilitation are filled with optimism and hope.

“I dream of getting better and of this war ending,” each of them says.

Both this year and last year, to ensure their travel would be as pleasant as possible, Oschadbank covered their travel expenses and presented them with gifts. In collaboration with Ukrzaliznytsia, the children were treated to a send-off featuring Oschadyk and a team-building program from “Zalizna Zmina,” with support from FC Lokomotyv; they were also given access to a business lounge while waiting to board, and barrier-free transportation was arranged for children in wheelchairs.

Last year, 15 war-injured children under the care of Okhmatdyt participated in a similar rehabilitation program in Sweden.
