Participants in the #PowerCoins charity campaign, organized by the National Bank of Ukraine and UAnimals, collected over UAH 2 million in coins, with 80% of this amount donated to charity through Oschadbank branches. The funds raised will help animals affected by the war.
The main driving force behind the charity campaign was children and young people, who collected coins in educational institutions. More than 115,000 children, students, and educators from all over Ukraine took part in the campaign.
"The results of the #PowerCoins campaign demonstrate that the strength of our country lies in our compassion and willingness to help. The more than 2 million hryvnias collected in coins is not just money but a symbol of the care that children, teachers, students, and many Ukrainians have for those who cannot protect themselves. We are grateful to each participant and partner for their trust and activity. Such initiatives shape a culture of charity among young people, which is an important component of financial culture. This helps to raise a generation for whom humanity and responsibility are true values," said Yulia Yevtushenko, Director of the Communications Department of the National Bank of Ukraine.
According to UAnimals, the funds raised during the campaign will be used to treat animals, build kennels and enclosures, purchase food for shelters with evacuated animals, and feed stray animals in frontline areas.
"Once again, thanks to the initiative of the National Bank, coins have made a significant contribution to charity. Oschadbank traditionally takes an active part in such initiatives of the regulator, because, as the bank with the largest branch network, we have the greatest potential to implement such projects. It is particularly gratifying that children and young people played an important role in this collection, demonstrating their active civic position thanks to #PowerCoins," said Volodymyr Moskalenko, Director of the Retail Business Products and Technologies Department at Oschadbank.
The #PowerCoins coin collection campaign lasted for almost three months throughout Ukraine, from September 15 to December 5 this year. Anyone could donate coins through a wide network of partner banks, which this year included Oschadbank and FUIB. The banks transferred the collected funds to the UAnimals account.
The campaign also included a series of educational events for educational institutions, namely:
- About 13,000 children took part in the educational challenge “DobroBingo: Helping Animals,” during which participants performed simple tasks on the topic of humane treatment of animals and did good deeds to support them, combining them into a line on a bingo card.
- More than 4,000 participants joined the “Friends Forever” film club, an educational event during which pupils and students watched a feature film about animals and discussed it. The goal of the event was to foster humane treatment of animals and develop empathy, critical thinking, and responsibility for those around us.
- More than 3,000 children created wall newspapers called “Care Budget.” This is an educational initiative aimed at helping pupils and students understand the importance of budget planning and responsible pet care in a creative way. During the event, they calculated the annual budget for keeping a cat or dog, which helped develop their financial literacy, expense planning skills, and ability to make informed decisions.

UAnimals is an organization that saves animals and the environment from war and human cruelty. Currently, the team is actively rescuing animals from war: evacuating them, delivering food and medicine, and rebuilding shelters.
Since its inception, the organization has also managed to ban traveling circuses with animals in more than 30 cities in Ukraine. As a result of negotiations between UAnimals and Ukrainian clothing brands, dozens of designers have committed to not using fur in their collections. UAnimals is working on legislative changes; in particular, it has joined the ban on fireworks, photo services with animals, strengthening administrative and criminal liability, etc.
