Oschadbank honoured the memory of its fallen employees: six more trees were planted in the ‘Alley of Memory’

Oschadbank has continued its tradition of honouring the memory of employees whose lives were taken by the war. On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the bank’s staff, together with the families of the fallen colleagues, gathered once again at the ‘Alley of Memory’ located at Askold’s Grave in Kyiv.

The event brought together members of the Management Board and representatives of the Supervisory Board of the bank, Oschadbank’s staff and the families of fallen colleagues. Together with the relatives of the deceased, the bank’s staff planted six more trees — each of them being a symbol of eternal honour and fond remembrance of the defenders and civilian employees of Oschadbank. As part of the event, posthumous awards were also presented to the families of the heroes.

During the ceremony, those present remembered their fallen colleagues by name and honoured them with a minute’s silence.

‘We created the “Alley of Memory” as a place where we can remember colleagues who laid down their lives defending Ukraine or who fell victim to Russian aggression. This year we have gathered here once again — unfortunately, to add six more trees. Behind each one is a specific person: their name, story, family, friends and colleagues. It is our duty to preserve the memory of each of them, support the families of the deceased and pass this memory on. All thirty trees on the Alley represent 30 stories of courage and devotion that will remain in our hearts forever,” said Yurii Katsion, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.

In his speech, Volodymyr Lavrenchuk, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Oschadbank, also emphasised the importance of the tradition of honouring the memory of deceased colleagues. After all, the pain of such losses cannot be soothed, it can only be shared.

Oschadbank launched the ‘Alley of Memory’ in 2024. At that time, bank employees, together with the families of their fallen colleagues, planted the first 19 thuja trees at Askold’s Grave. In 2025, another five trees were added, each of which became a symbol of an individual life taken by the war and a reminder of the price of Ukraine’s freedom and independence.

There are now 30 evergreen trees growing on the Alley — each one bearing the name and story of an Oschadbank employee whom the team remembers and honours.
