Oschadbank strengthens its ESG practices with the support from GGF TA Facility

Oschad News

Oschadbank has joined the technical assistance project from the Green for Growth Fund (GGF) Technical Assistance Facility, managed by Finance in Motion, to support the systematic development of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. This program, financed by the European Union*, will help the bank reinforce its leadership position among Ukrainian financial institutions in sustainable development.

The project’s objective is to advance Oschadbank’s ESG-approaches to align with international standards, as well as creating a foundation for developing new sustainable financial products adapted to the needs of clients and partners.

Oschadbank and Finance in Motion conducted a competitive selection process and chose independent consultant PwC Ukraine to implement the project. PwC experts will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current state of ESG processes and the bank's internal documents. Based on the research results, recommendations will be developed to improve practices and deepen the integration of sustainability into Oschadbank's activities.

Sergii Naumov, Chairman of the Board, Oschadbank:

“Our goal is to make ESG principles an integral part of the bank’s DNA. While Oschadbank already runs a number of sustainability initiatives, it is essential to systematize practices and align them with the best international standards. Thanks to the GGF’s technical assistance, we have a valuable opportunity to engage PwC consultants with years of experience and cutting-edge expertise on the market. This project also helps us meet the requirements of the European integration course and marks another step toward achieving Oschadbank Strategic Program 2024–2028.”

Borislav Kostadinov, GGF Fund Director:

“We are proud to support Oschadbank in embedding sustainability at the core of its operations through GGF’s Deep Greening initiative. This tailored technical assistance project reflects GGF’s commitment to empowering financial institutions to lead in ESG integration and green finance. By strengthening sustainability practices and building internal capacity, Oschadbank is laying the foundation for long-term impact and resilience. As part of GGF’s Stand with Ukraine programme, this support underscores our dedication to reinforcing the resilience of Ukraine’s financial sector and enabling its sustainable recovery and transformation. We look forward to seeing Oschadbank emerge as a key driver of Ukraine’s sustainable economic transformation.”

Anna Parokinna, Partner, PwC Ukraine:

"We are pleased to support Oschadbank in developing ESG practices, which are becoming increasingly important for the financial sector. Our team will conduct an in-depth analysis of existing processes and help embed ESG principles into the bank's daily operations. We are confident that the readiness for change in large systemic banks like Oschadbank is one of the key drivers moving Ukraine's financial industry forward. This work is not only a response to global challenges, but also a strategic investment in client and partner trust.”

With PwC involvement, Oschadbank will continue improving its internal policies, introducing reporting in line with European standards, and expanding stakeholder engagement on ESG issues. The implementation of recommendations will be coordinated by the bank’s ESG Center.
