Oschadbank receives a second tranche of €50 million from the EBRD under the ESSF programme to support the financing of energy projects in Ukraine

Oschadbank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed an agreement for the provision of a second tranche of €50 million under the EBRD’s Energy Security and Stability Facility (ESSF) guarantee instrument. The document was signed in London on 15 September, during the EBRD annual meeting with partner banks in Ukraine.

The ESSF programme, which is implemented with financial support from the European Union, France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, provides for the EBRD to partially cover the risks associated with Oschadbank’s investment loans for financing power generation and energy efficiency projects in Ukraine. The guarantee covers 50% of a corresponding loan amount. The agreement to participate in the programme was concluded by Oschadbank and the EBRD on 12 February 2025.

Joining the ESSF has been another important step in our cooperation with the EBRD, which is Oschadbank’s strategic partner. The demand for this instrument is confirmed by the first tranche, which has already been executed. The new €50 million will enable us to continue financing projects that help businesses, communities and other clients strengthen their energy resilience. This is particularly important in the lead-up to the autumn and winter season, when Ukraine may once again face serious challenges to its energy supply due to ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure. In the context of the war, energy resilience is, first and foremost, the ability of businesses and communities to work, keep up production and services, and ensure the country’s economic activities,” said Yurii Katsion, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.
