Oschadbank has received two awards for green finance from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), for the projects implemented in 2025. The bank was recognised in the ‘Green Trade Deal of the Year: Renewable Energy (Wind)’ and ‘Green Trade Deal of the Year: Water Sector’ categories.
The awards ceremony under the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) took place as part of the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of EBRD at The Splendid cultural centre in Riga (Latvia) on 7 June 2026. This year, the international banking forum traditionally recognised the best financial institutions supporting the transition to a green economy, the implementation of environmentally friendly technologies and the conservation of natural resources.
Oschadbank received its first award, jointly with DZ BANK, for the implementation of a large-scale wind power project in the western Ukraine. The agreements provide for financing the construction of a wind farm with a total capacity of 39.9 MW. The complex is expected to generate around 122 million kWh of electricity per year. Oschadbank’s financing, in addition to the loan, included the provision of an irrevocable confirmed ‘green’ letter of credit.
The second award, which Oschadbank won jointly with Commerzbank AG, recognised a project in the field of efficient water use. The joint project aims to implement a modern greenhouse irrigation system for a leading agricultural processing enterprise in the south of the country, which will deliver significant water savings.
“We are proud to recognise Oschadbank as a winner of the EBRD TFP Awards for outstanding green finance transactions in 2025. These awards in the renewable energy and water sectors highlight the bank’s strong commitment to advancing sustainable finance. The financing of a new wind power project and support for the implementation of efficient water-use technologies demonstrate how trade finance can deliver a tangible environmental impact. We value our continued partnership with Oschadbank and its international counterparts and look forward to further collaboration in advancing sustainable and resilient growth,” said Shona Tatchell, Director, Head of TFP at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
“The development of renewable energy and implementation of technologies for the efficient use of natural resources are critically important for Ukraine’s sustainable future, especially given the constant challenges that our infrastructure is facing. Receiving two awards for green deals from EBRD is a powerful recognition of Oschadbank’s leadership in the field of green finance. We are proud of our participation in these large-scale projects, which strengthen the country’s energy and environmental security. We are sincerely grateful to our Ukrainian partners for their trust, and to the international financial institutions — DZ BANK, Commerzbank AG and, of course, EBRD — for their high regard and reliable cooperation,” said Yurii Katsion, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.
The names of the companies are not being disclosed due to military risks.
