Oschadbank Has Received Applications Totaling UAH 2.5 billion for Business Energy Project Financing

Ukrainian businesses are rapidly ramping up their investments in energy independence: Oschadbank is currently processing about 1,000 applications for energy project financing, with total demand amounting to about UAH 2.5 billion.

This was announced during Oschadbank’s Energy Finance 2026 forum by Nataliia Butkova-Vitvitska, Member of the Management Board of Oschadbank in charge of MSMEs.

According to her, over the past three-year period, between 2024 and 2026, demand for energy financing has been steadily growing, reflecting businesses’ adaptation to wartime energy challenges and the need to ensure the continuous operation of enterprises. In 2026, the demand structure changed dramatically: businesses are gradually shifting away from short-term solutions such as generators and are increasingly investing in green projects such as solar, hydro, and bioenergy, as well as energy storage systems.

“About 80% of applications for energy financing come from microbusinesses, demonstrating high demand among the smallest entrepreneurs. At the same time, medium-sized enterprises account for 44% of the loan portfolio. This means that enterprises of all sizes are eagerly participating in the energy transition. That is hardly surprising, given that Oschadbank currently offers the market’s most extensive range of support programs for micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises, ranging from solar power generation and energy storage systems to wind, gas, and biogas projects, as well as emergency power generation,” noted Nataliia Butkova-Vitvitska.

One of the key drivers of this transition has been a joint program between Oschadbank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It enables the financing of energy projects with no strict collateral requirements and provides for a grant compensation of up to 30% of the project cost, which available to clients with the support of the European Union.

Energy Finance 2026 is a large-scale energy forum organized by Oschadbank, which took place in Kyiv on May 13 and served as a key platform for discussing a new model of energy sustainability for Ukraine. The event brought together over 400 representatives from the public sector, international organizations, financial institutions, energy companies, and the business community to coordinate efforts in developing decentralized generation, supporting communities, and ensuring energy independence for households. The forum showcased how the banking sector is evolving to become the driving force behind the country’s comprehensive energy ecosystem. The event was sponsored by VISA, UPG, VUSO, and SONNEN+ ENERGIE.
