Oschadbank signed a series of loan agreements totaling US$77 million with companies belonging to the Kernel group.
Almost half of the loan amount may be used by Kernel for investment purposes: these are non-revolving credit lines totaling US$36.7 million, opened for a term of seven years. The purpose is to upgrade the fleet of agricultural machinery and equipment to ensure uninterrupted cultivation of agricultural land, as well as to finance/refinance capital expenditures related to the reconstruction of Kernel's Transbalkterminal grain terminal in Chornomorsk. This is the second largest grain terminal in the country. It was damaged by a Russian missile attack in 2023. The company is working to restore it and increase its productivity.
Another feature of the agreement is the borrower's right to draw down the entire credit limit of US$77 million during the term of the agreement to replenish working capital, provided that the limits granted for investment lending are reduced. Working capital may be replenished by group companies for the purchase of grain, fertilizers, plant protection products, fuels and lubricants, other goods, works, services, etc.
"When market leaders work together, opportunities for development always multiply. Our partnership with Kernel began only at the start of the full-scale invasion. We have now concluded the largest loan agreement of 2025 among all Ukrainian banks, for a total amount of USD 77 million. The development of Ukraine's agricultural export potential is an important aspect of strengthening the country's economy. It is Kernel's main business direction and one of Oschadbank's priorities," said Yurii Katsion, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank, responsible for corporate business.
"It is important for Kernel to work with partners who demonstrate reliability and a willingness to contribute to the implementation of strategic plans. Obtaining the credit line was the result of our effective work and solid reputation. Cooperation with Oschadbank proves once again that the synergy between business and state financial institutions aimed at supporting the agricultural sector and the stability of Ukraine's economy strengthens confidence in the development of Ukrainian companies and helps to effectively build work in the face of modern challenges," said Serhii Volkov, CFO of the Kernel group of companies.
