"Now is not the time to wait; it is time to act. Ukraine already offers interesting opportunities for joint investments in critical infrastructure, renewable energy, sustainable industry, and further development of the agricultural sector. We call for the deepening of Swedish-Ukrainian business cooperation," was the main message of Sergii Naumov, Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank, during his recent visit to Sweden.
The main event of the visit was Sergii Naumov's speech at the Swedish-Ukrainian business conference. The event was organized by the Stockholm School of Economics, the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics, and the Swedish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce in Scandinavia. Oschadbank also participated in such an important international event as an organizer for the first time. The event's panels were devoted to two issues: energy and the defense-industrial complex, where Oschadbank currently holds a leading position. At the request of the audience, Sergii Naumov spoke separately about Oschadbank's role in supporting businesses and communities during the full-scale war and his vision for cooperation with international partners.
In addition, during his visit to Sweden, Sergii Naumov held substantive meetings with Svitlana Zalishchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden; Torbjörn Becker, Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics; Deputy Governor of the Swedish Central Bank Per Jansson; Co-Chair of the International Working Group on the Environmental Impact of the War in Ukraine Margot Elisabeth Wallström; and Special Envoy of the Swedish Government for Ukraine Ulrik Tideström. The chairman of the board of Oschadbank also met with representatives of Swedish businesses, educational institutions, the local financial institution Swedfund, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden. These meetings focused on how Swedish partners can help Ukraine in the current circumstances and what role Oschadbank can play in this.
During the meetings, agreements were reached on possible areas of cooperation with Swedish partners. For example, these include a leadership development program for Oschadbank managers and joint analytical reviews for our bank's premium and business clients with the Stockholm School of Economics. At the meeting with Swedfund, a preliminary list of projects for local communities was identified with the participation of international financial institutions, which Oschadbank may join.
“Oschadbank finances more than 15% of Ukraine's economy, actively supporting the energy sector, the defense industry, the agricultural sector, municipal projects, and enterprises operating near the front line. Despite the war, the bank remains profitable, is growing its loan portfolio, and continues to expand its cooperation with international financial institutions within the framework of risk sharing, grant support, technical assistance, and other programs. Oschadbank can be a reliable bridge between international financial organizations, Swedish private businesses, and the real sector of our economy. I urged representatives of Swedish companies to take advantage of this bridge," Sergii Naumov shared the results of his visit to Sweden.
