The National Paralympic Committee recognised Oschadbank for supporting Ukrainian sports

Valerii Sushkevych, President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine, visited Oschadbank and presented a special award to Yurii Katsion, Chairman of the Management Board. The award recognises the bank’s long-standing and systematic support for the national Paralympic and Deaflympic movements in Ukraine.

Valerii Sushkevych noted that the award had been established only recently, and Oschadbank, represented by Yurii Katsion, was one of the few to receive it — for its constant attention to the needs of Ukrainian athletes.

“When there is a massive shortage in funding during preparations for the Paralympics and Deaflympics, Oschadbank’s financial support and partnership are crucial for resolving key organisational issues, which ultimately help Ukraine achieve victories in world sports,” said Valerii Sushkevych, speaking about the importance of the partnership.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the athletes to personally thank the bank for its support. On behalf of the Paralympic team, Artem Manko, a renowned para-fencer and silver medallist at the 2020 Paralympics, presented a commemorative photo from the 2026 Paralympics. Multiple Deaflympics champion Oleksandr Poltoratskyi presented a flag signed by all the medallists and members of the winter team.

“I would like to thank our athletes once again for representing Ukraine so well at the competitions,” remarked Yurii Katsion as he accepted the award.

For Oschadbank, supporting the Ukrainian Paralympic and Deaflympic movements is part of its work in the field of accessibility and inclusion.

“Inclusivity is not just a standalone project. It is part of Oschadbank’s development strategy and vision. We have the largest network in the country, and over 750 of our branches have already received official accessibility certificates. However, it is important for us to create equal opportunities for Ukrainians not only in day-to-day banking services but also in sports,” said Yurii Katsion.

As a general partner of the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine, the National Paralympic Committee and national teams, Oschadbank is proud to be a part of these great sporting achievements.

Thus, at the Winter Paralympic Games in Milan-Cortina, the Ukrainian team won 19 medals — 3 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze — finishing third in the overall medal table and seventh in the gold medal count, whilst at the Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo, it won a phenomenal 100 medals and took first place in the overall team standings. Of the 174 team members, 120 Ukrainian athletes stepped onto the podium, and on two occasions the entire podium was exclusively Ukrainian.

Behind each of these victories lie years of gruelling training, endurance of athletes, expertise of coaches and strength of spirit of the entire team. In every competition, our athletes compete for much more than just awards — they assert Ukraine’s right to be heard in the world.

We sincerely thank our athletes and coaches for their daily hard work, endurance and impressive results. We are proud to stand by and support those who represent and bring glory to Ukraine on the world stage!
