The National Bank, Oschadbank and UAnimals Will Collect Coins to Help Animals as Part of the #PowerCoins Charity Campaign

From September 7 through November 30, 2026 Ukrainians will be able to donate coins to charity at Oschadbank branch teller windows. The bank traditionally partners with the annual #PowerCoins campaign jointly organized by the National Bank of Ukraine and UAnimals.

UAnimals will distribute the funds raised to help evacuated animals in shelters and animals in frontline regions, specifically for:

• food for animals rescued from combat zones;
• treatment for injured and sick animals - veterinary care, surgeries, medications, rehabilitation, and vaccinations;
• shelter setups - materials and equipment to create and expand safe spaces for evacuated animals.

“Last year’s outcome of #PowerCoins showed just how powerful a small contribution can be: we managed to collect over UAH 2 million in coins to help animals, and 80% of that amount was donated by Ukrainians through Oschadbank branches. This year, we’re once again opening up our branch network for this charitable initiative so that anyone wishing to do so can easily contribute to the collection. I am confident that together we will once again be able to turn small contributions into meaningful help for those in need”, said Anton Tiutiun, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank.

As part of this campaign we are accepting coins currently in circulation: 10 and 50 kopiykas and 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnias. The coins can be donated free of charge at the Oschadbank branches cash desks that accept charitable donations as part of #PowerCoins.

At the customer’s request, circulating banknotes may also be donated. The money will be credited to the UAnimals charity account and included in the overall fundraising statistics for the campaign.

Coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, and 25 kopiykas, which are no longer legal tender, must first be exchanged at branches of authorized banks that offer such exchange services and then the funds received should be transferred to the UAnimals account.

Citizens, groups, businesses, organizations, and educational institutions can participate in the collection by organizing their own coin drives.

The special information portal lists the addresses of all partner bank branches where citizens can transfer the collected coins to the “UAnimals” fund’s account, as well as detailed information on the terms of participation in the campaign and activities for educational institutions.

In particular, the campaign will feature educational events for schools, namely:

• the “DobroBingo: Helping Animals” educational challenge, during which the participants will complete simple tasks on the topic of treating animals humanely and perform good deeds to support them, connecting them in a line on a bingo card;
• creating a wall newspaper titled “Care Budget” - an educational initiative that helps pupils understand, through creative means, the importance of budgeting and taking a responsible approach to caring for pets. Pupils calculate the annual budget for keeping a cat or dog, which helps develop financial literacy, expense planning skills, and the ability to make informed decisions.

Upon completion of the campaign, information on the total amount of funds raised will be published on the National Bank of Ukraine’s website and on a special #PowerCoins page.
