The National Bank, Oschadbank, and UAnimals are launching a charity campaign to collect coins #PowerCoins

The National Bank of Ukraine, Oschadbank, and UAnimals are launching an annual charity campaign to collect coins, #PowerCoins, to help animals affected by the war.

Over the next three months, from September 15 to November 28, 2025, coins with denominations of 10 and 50 kopecks and 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnia will be collected throughout Ukraine. The funds raised will be transferred to shelters for evacuated animals and animals in frontline areas. Oschadbank and FUIB have become partner banks for the campaign.

What will the funds be used for?

  • Food for evacuated animals—purchasing food for animals rescued from the combat zone, which will provide shelters and temporary holding facilities with food.
  • Treatment of injured and sick animals—funding veterinary care, surgery, medication, rehabilitation, and basic vaccinations for animals that have been injured or fallen ill as a result of the war.
  • Enclosures and shelter facilities—purchasing materials and equipment to create or expand safe spaces in shelters that are ready to accept evacuated animals.

"We consider the culture of charity to be an important part of financial literacy, so we always contribute to its promotion and development, especially among young people and children. The War of Independence has shown that everyone's support, whether through actions, words, or donations, is important, appropriate, and sustains faith in goodness and victory. We must teach the younger generation not only to manage their personal budgets, save, and invest, but also to join forces and help those who cannot take care of themselves. Join the fundraising effort, do good deeds, and turn your coins into a symbol of a good cause," said Andrii Pyshnyy, Governor of the National Bank.

Oschadbank is always happy to support charitable campaigns initiated by the NBU. Our network is the largest in the country, and we use it not only to provide services to customers but also to attract as many Ukrainians as possible to charity. This year's coin collection campaign has a noble goal—to help animals that find themselves in a difficult situation due to full-scale aggression. The attitude towards animals says a lot about the civility of society, and we are pleased that even in these difficult times, Ukrainians are finding opportunities to participate in such initiatives," commented Sergii Naumov, Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank, on the launch of the campaign.

The #PowerCoins charity campaign is primarily aimed at children and young people who have repeatedly demonstrated their active participation in previous charity campaigns organized by the National Bank. Last year, more than 210,000 children, students, and educators from all over Ukraine joined the charity coin collection.

At the same time, the #PowerCoins charity campaign is not only about raising funds but also about developing a culture of charity, which is an integral part of financial culture.

"When saving animals, our team always looks for the deeper reasons for cruelty towards them in society. And we see that culture, knowledge, and values are formed from childhood. That is why it is a great honor for us to conduct this campaign together with the NBU and our partners. It not only saves the lives of animals but also teaches children humanity and responsibility, showing how small actions can have a big impact," says Olga Chevhanyuk, head of strategic initiatives at UAnimals.

How to join the initiative?

To join the campaign, you need to collect coins (denominations of 10 and 50 kopecks and 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnias) and bring them to the nearest branch of Oschadbank or FUIB, which are partners in the campaign, between September 15 and November 28, 2025. The bank will transfer these funds to the UAnimals fund account.

Teams can join the campaign and collect coins in educational institutions, enterprises, organizations, and other institutions. This will allow all concerned citizens to participate in fundraising and help save the lives of animals affected by the war.

A special information portal lists the addresses of all partner bank branches where citizens can transfer the collected coins to the UAnimals fund account, as well as detailed information about the conditions of participation in the campaign and events for educational institutions.

In particular, educational events for educational institutions will be held as part of the campaign, namely:

  • The DobroBingo: Helping Animals educational challenge, during which participants will complete simple tasks on the topic of humane treatment of animals and do good deeds to support them, combining them into a line on a bingo card;
  • Creating a wall newspaper called “Care Budget” is an educational initiative that helps pupils understand the importance of budget planning and responsible pet care in a creative way. Pupils calculate the annual budget for keeping a cat or dog, which promotes the development of financial literacy, expense planning skills, and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • The “Friends Forever” cinema club is an educational event during which pupils and students can watch a feature film about animals and discuss it. The format of watching a film followed by a discussion helps to foster a humane attitude, develops empathy, critical thinking, and responsibility for those around us.

For reference:

UAnimals is an organization that saves animals and the environment from war and human cruelty. Currently, the team is actively rescuing animals from the war: evacuating them, delivering food and medicine, and rebuilding shelters.

Since its inception, the organization has also managed to ban traveling circuses with animals in more than 30 cities in Ukraine. As a result of negotiations between UAnimals and Ukrainian clothing brands, dozens of designers have committed to not using fur in their collections. UAnimals is working on legislative changes; in particular, it has succeeded in participating in the ban on fireworks, photo services with animals, strengthening administrative and criminal liability, etc.
